SDM Research Institute for Biomedical Sciences (SDMRIBS) is an independent teaching and research institute that started in the year 2019 under the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University, Dharwad. The institute is intending to conduct research in the advanced and emerging areas of modern science with innovation and initiative for indigenous technology and product development. The institute offers academic programs, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Science on the basis of the Choice Based Credit System as per the UGC guidelines.
In recent years the major emphasis of the research is towards biomedical areas, thus our academic programs in biomedical sciences provide students/scholars with an intellectually motivating education to acquire a systematic understanding of integrated specialties of biological, medical and allied sciences.
The SDM Life Science Research Center (SDMLSRC) was established in the year 2016 with an intention of carrying out cutting edge research in the field of human stem cells, particularly for the regeneration of damaged cartilage and bone to alleviate the chronic suffering due to rapidly increasing degenerative and trauma-induced morbidities.
In 2017, SDMLSRC was dramatically recognized as SDM Biomedical Research Center (SDMBRC) and further recognized and transformed as SDM Research Institute for Biomedical Sciences (SDMRIBS)under the Shri Dharmashtala Manjunatheshwara University, a young university established on 19th December 2018.
The institute is equipped with experienced faculty, state-of-the-art infrastructure and a research facility for both basic and translational research. The institute has been working to unravel the mysteries of various unmet non-communicable diseases through innovative thinking, creative problem solving, and cutting edge technologies.
