The focus of postgraduate programs is to gain advanced knowledge & skills in the field of
Biomedical Sciences, genetics, computation biology in collaboration with the SDM Medical
College, Dental College & Hospitals. These are creating a strong base for research &
development for innovative ideas & translation of inventions to clinical medicine for the
betterment of human health in society. Adaptation & execution of advanced biomedical
research to rapidly changing, dynamic & complex science that continuously demands
translation is the hallmark of the Institute. Our programs are first-of-its-kind in this region of
Karnataka. It is a great opportunity for students & researchers to engage in systematic
understating of modern science & interested in basic, advanced & translational research.
Candidates can aspire for careers in academia, biomedical research in Research
Centres/Institutes/Universities or to work in the biotechnical, pharmaceutical & healthcare
industries in India & Abroad.
Programs are designed to provide maximum exposure to students & 50% of the coursework
will be delivered in laboratories. IV semester full time project work will be provided.
2 Years
The two years Master of Science program provide students with an intellectually motivating education to acquire a systematic understanding of integrated specialties of biological, life science & medical sciences.
It always gives the personal satisfaction of using our scientific & detective skills to investigate disease to help scientists, physicians & clinicians to alleviate the sufferings and/or save the life of patients. This program helps in diversifying of an interesting & rewarding career with a range of opportunities for personal & career development.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree of a minimum 3 years duration in Biological Sciences (Biomedical Science/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Microbiology/Botany/Zoology/Genetics/Home Science/Chemistry/Computer Science) or possess bachelor degree in BE/B.Tech, majoring in computer science/Biotechnology/Medical/Dental/B.Pharm/Pharmacology/Animal Sciences & any other bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or computer science from a reputed & recognized university/Board recognized as equivalent by SDM University, with not less than 55% marks in aggregate. Admission/selection of eligible candidates for M.Sc programs shall be based on the eligibility, marks secured in the qualifying test & personal interview.
Duration :
Program shall be 2 academic years with semester pattern having a total of 4 Semesters.
Program Syllabus : The syllabus of M.Sc programs has been prepared as per the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) pattern. The syllabus has been prepared to take into consideration of the UGC guidelines, syllabus of SLET/NET examination & other universities as well as the specific inputs of the Expert Committee Members.
The Medium of Instruction & Examination : Medium of Instruction & Examination shall be in English.
